Visual specification exercise

Due: 1 December 2014, 8:30am
Turn it in
HER A341 | Fall 2014
Instructor: Aaron Ganci

In this assignment, you will practice generating visual specs for a high fidelity mock up. Visual specs are a common deliverable that designers create for developers to ensure that their design is translated well into code.

We well be reusing the wireframe that you generated (the second, new wireframe) in the Wireframe assignment. I want you to visually design that page and then create a visual spec for it. You only need to design the page "above the fold," in other words, what you see in the browser when you first load the page.

Grading criteria

  • Clearly stated and accurate specifications
  • Completeness of specifications
  • Specification written for a web environment (not print)

Learning Objectives

At the end of this project, you will be able to:

  • Specify visual specifications in a usable and useful manner
  • Describe the scope of a visual designers deliverables in a more complete way.

Late work

Every assignment in this course will be due at the beginning of the class of its defined due date. Work that is not handed in via the method requested by the instructor (OnCourse, email, etc) by the predetermined time will be considered late. The consequences of late submission fall on sliding scale, increasing in severity over time. If late work is handed in within the following parameters, the grade will be reduced in the following ways:

Due date/time – same day, end of class -10%
Same day, end of class – same day, end of day (11:59pm) -15%
Next day (midnight – 11:59pm) -20%
Any subsequent day -50%
