Overview

The Capstone Thesis Presentation is a venue for you to describe your project and demonstrate the success of your solution to an external audience. Your presentation and its content will be evaluated by a panel of design professionals and the instructor. In addition to the project itself, you will also be evaluated on the professionalism of your presentation.

Format and schedule

The presentations will be divided between 3 class sessions. Each student will have 10 minutes to present and 8 minutes for discussion and feedback. You will want to be as succinct as possible and practice your delivery.

  • Demonstrate you understand the problem space thoroughly
  • Discuss your process
  • Showcase your solution and why it is successful

Grading criteria

This project is worth 10% of your overall course grade. It will be evaluated on:

The Problem (5% of project grade)

Is the problem relevant and worth investigating. Is it evident that you understand the problem space?

  • Is your problem space clear and well supported?

The Process (5% of project grade)

Did you develop an appropriate solution through a people-centered process?

  • Is it evident that your process centered around your users and whether or not they found the solution desirable?

The Solution (60% of project grade)

Was your solution a success?

  • Does your solution address the design criteria?
  • Does your design illustrate technical mastery and craft?
  • Is your solution novel?

Professionalism (30% of project grade)

Was your presentation professional and organized.

  • Did you speak in a clear voice?
  • Did you show us an appropriate amount of content at an appropriate pace?
